THE CUSTOM PROCESS FROM START TO FINISH
STEP 1
SEND AN INQUIRY
The first step of any custom project is to connect with me and share the details of your design. In the initial message, please share what custom item you'd like to create, as well as what size, style, and design details you have in mind. If you're not sure of some of these details yet, don't worry, I'm happy to help you figure out what will work best for your needs. Also, include if you have your fabric and trim selection already decided upon, or if you need help finding the perfect ones for your project!
STEP 2
SELECT A FABRIC
After I've reviewed your initial email, I will get back with you to discuss the details and talk about your fabric selection if you don't already know what you want. If you need help selecting your fabric, I will ask some questions about your space, budget, design style, and may even ask for some inspiration photos. Once I know what you have in mind I will suggest some fabric options that I think will work well. Once you've narrowed down the selections, I can send samples for you to see in person and then we'll go from there.
STEP 3
CHOOSE A TRIM
After your fabric is selected, it is time to talk about trim options. If you choose a simpler design without a trim, I will move on to putting together your quote. If you decide to add a trim, we'll start by discussing what you have in mind and what trims will work best for your project. Trim options vary by project and can range from a self-welt for a pillow to a bullion fringe for a table skirt. As with the fabric I can suggest options and send samples for you to see in person. Once you're selections are made I'll move onto the quote.
STEP 4
REVIEW THE QUOTE
I like to give comprehensive, transparent quotes, so as well as receiving the total figure, I will break everything down by material and labor costs, and share how much material I need for each part of your project. I will also share my estimated lead time and answer any questions you may still have. Once you review the quote and make any adjustments you see fit, I will email you the final invoice. Once that is paid, I will start ordering the supplies and creating your custom Maxine Makes piece!
STEP 5
ENJOY YOUR PIECE
After I've finished making your piece, I will safely box it up and ship it to its new home. You will automatically receive the tracking number so you can follow its journey. Once you receive your parcel, you may need to iron or steam your final piece to remove wrinkles from being folded in the box. If you have any questions about your piece, such as properly fitting your table skirt, hanging your drapes, or stuffing your pillow covers, I'm happy to help. I want you to enjoy your custom piece to the fullest!
